Lowell & Jenkins... bloody idiots. Wasn't a bad scam, to start off with. Trouble is, the merchants brought it to Gringotts. You need a fence for that kind of setup, not the bloody bank!
Remember this, a free lesson from Uncle Dung. If you're dealing with bad money, make sure your people know to not bring it to Gringotts. Those goblins are right picky little bastards and will turn you over to the Ministry in a heartbeat.
